Why are these 3M KN95 respirators so expensive?
We are well aware of 3M's commitment to be transparent, stop price gouging and identify counterfeits. Let us tell you about our pricing of these KN95 respirators. Before COVID-19, these KN95s were priced at around $1 per respirator. The authorized 3M distributor price in China has increased them to around $2 per respirator. We have additional costs like breaking down a bulk factory order into small orders to you, shipping fees within China and to USA, money transaction fees, credit card fees, Shopify fees, and fees to our Chinese partner. After all these expenses, around 20% of your money comes to us, but we still have to pay our staff.
We have some of the lowest prices on the internet for small quantity orders for 3M respirators. We want you to know our commitment to keeping cost down to bring you quality respirators. We are sharing our cost structure with you, because of our commitment to transparency.
Who should use these respirators?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not recommend that the general public wear N95 respirators to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including coronavirus (COVID-19).
How do I know that these are authentic?
We source all of our respirators directly from front line 3M China authorized distributors. This is the closest source to the factory that you can get. The vendors has been verified by 3M China and has a long track record of trust and reliability. Our Chinese partners who fulfill these orders have also been vetted and background checked.
3M says that "no entity other than FEMA is directly acquiring these models from 3M and distributing them in the United States." How are you getting them from China?
This is correct. We are not purchasing these respirators from 3M China directly, but from an authorized 3M distributor in China (therefore, the prices are higher when we purchase these respirators through a distributor vs. purchasing direct from 3M China). We have verified with 3M China that our distributor is authorized. 3M's statement is about verifying that your 3M respirators are NOT counterfeits, and NOT about who can acquire and distribute 3M China respirators. 3M further states that "FEMA is the only entity that is acquiring significant quantities of 3M respirators directly from 3M in Asia," which means that other entities are acquiring smaller quantities of 3M respirators
What is a KN95?
KN95 respirator is a Chinese filtering facepiece respirator (FFR) that meets the Chinese performance standard GB2626–2006. KN95 respirators filter ≥ 95% of particles of 0.3 microns.
